
Zigomatic implants
They are a specific type of implant that when placed in the malar or zygoma is the basis for the placement of a dental prosthesis without the need of bone grafting. These implants are only used in the maxilla. Sometimes they are combined with pterygoid implants.
Requires infiltrative anesthesia:
- Anesthesia will last about an hour after surgery.
Duration of the session:
- About 1 to 2 hours depending on the number of implants.
Number of appointments or sessions:
- It is done in one session.
Recovery:
- Inflammation is present during the first week. Hematoma may also occur in the facial region and sometimes there is the presence of nasal bleeding.
